In an incredibly lucky cosmic accident, NASAs Hubble Space Telescope captured a comet breaking apart in real time-something astronomers have long tried and failed to observe. The comet, C/2025 K1 (ATLAS), wasnt even the original target, but when researchers pivoted to it, they unknowingly caught it mid-disintegration into multiple pieces.
